12/24/2015 ArchiCAD's simple and intuitive approach to building information modeling makes it the perfect tool for a fast and easy implementation. Up and Running with ArchiCAD opens the doors of ArchiCAD—and BIM—to architects and students of all levels.ArchiCAD expert Thiago Mundim shows you how to use the ArchiCAD tools needed to model, document, and publish your design. He begins with covering the interface basics, navigating your BIM model, and modeling essential architectural elements in 2D and 3D. Then he outlines how to document your design, adding sections, elevations, dimensions, and details. Finally, you'll learn how to set up layout sheets and publish designs in common formats such as PDF and DWG. Thiago also shows you how to export drawings to the free BIMx app for tablets and smartphones, so you can take your ArchiCAD work anywhere. Topics include:
- Setting up projects, stories, and working units
- Importing other drawings in ArchiCAD
- Working with walls
- Creating slabs
- Adding windows, doors, roofs, and stairs
- Creating zones
- Editing sections
- Setting up drawing dimensions

Course details
ArchiCAD is an award-winning tool used by architects worldwide. It's powerful and packed full of the features needed to design great building projects. Ready to get started? ArchiCAD Essential Training offers practical training for new ArchiCAD users. We've mapped the basic and advanced tools with actual stages of architecture, making it easy to relate to the daily, real-world activities of an architect in training. Thiago Mundim shows how to get around ArchiCAD, start a new project story, and set up the units and preferences so the software works best for you. He then dives into modeling and documentation, such as working with groups and dimensions, and pays special attention to detailed drawings, which may contain special objects such as Solid Element Operations, custom objects, or graphic overrides. By the end, you'll understand the essential ArchiCAD tools and techniques and how they fit into the BIM workflow.Skills covered in this course

Welcome
- [Voiceover] Before we start modeling our project, we need to understand how we edit elements in ArchiCAD, and one of the great things about ArchiCAD is that it stays pretty consistent in the way you do things. So for instance, the same way you do a line is how you're gonna do a wall. Same way you do a pully line is how you're gonna do a slam. So if you know how to do one, you should be fine doing the other. When you're drawing elements in ArchiCAD, one thing you're gonna notice is this blue text here following the cursor with a distance and an angle, and this is called tracker. To access the tracker you press the Tab key and you jump into distance, if I press the Tab key again, I jump into angle, and if I keep pressing the Tab, ArchiCAD is gonna show me the x, y, and z coordinate in relation to the starting point of the wall. So for instance, if I type here three meters, I should do a three meter wall. Another way to access the tracker is by typing the first letter of the field.
